Western Oklahoma has a growing number of oil and gas rigs drilling for new sources of energy as 48 rigs were reported in the latest Baker Hughes Rig Count.
One more rig from a week ago was reported in the Cana Woodford where the total is now 20 active oil and gas rigs. The number of rigs in the Granite Wash is one behind the Cana with a count of 19 rigs, same as a week earlier.
The Ardmore Woodford remains at 2 rigs and the Arkoma Woodford was unchanged with one rig.
The Mississippi still has no reported drilling activity.
Baker Hughes reported the Permian Basin, the region that includes southeast New Mexico and western Texas, gained 3 rigs to reach a total of 261. The count in the Williston gave up one rig to reach 27. The Haynesville was unchanged at 55 rigs while the Eagle Ford play in South Texas remained at 44.
The D-J Niobrara in northern Colorado and southern Wyoming continued with a count of 9 active rigs. The Marcellus total stayed at 24 and the Utica count of 12 was the same as the previous week.
