Here’s a recap of European ETF action between June 29 and July 3, from our data partners, Trackinsight, highlighting how capital moved and performance varied across asset classes, regions, and themes.
According to data by Trackinsight, Fixed Income ETFs dominated European ETF flows during the week, attracting €29.09 billion. Equity ETFs gathered €7.95 billion, while Multi-Asset products added €8.2 million. Cryptocurrency ETPs attracted €5.3 million, and Volatility products gathered €2.8 million.
Commodity ETPs recorded significant outflows of €4.30 billion during the period, while Currency ETFs declined by €1.7 million.
Sector ETF Flows: Health Care Leads While Energy Records Largest Outflow
Health Care ETFs attracted €201.3 million, the largest sector inflow of the week.
Information Technology gathered €182.7 million, while Materials added €77.4 million. Consumer Staples attracted €73.0 million, Utilities gathered €50.8 million, and Consumer Discretionary recorded inflows of €29.2 million. Real Estate added €16.2 million.
Financials were broadly unchanged, recording outflows of €0.7 million.
Energy recorded the largest sector outflow at €103.4 million. Industrials declined by €52.9 million, while Communication Services lost €36.3 million.
Sector ETF Performance: Industrials Leads Weekly Gains
Industrials delivered the strongest sector performance among the major sectors, advancing 7.08% during the week.
Financials gained 3.44%, while Materials rose 2.77%. Health Care advanced 2.21%, and Communication Services gained 2.03%.
Consumer Discretionary rose 1.87%, while Real Estate, Utilities and Consumer Staples all posted modest gains.
Energy declined 0.72%, while Information Technology recorded the weakest sector performance with a decline of 0.84%.
Geographic Equity ETF Flows: US, World and Developed Markets Lead
US-focused ETFs attracted €3.26 billion, the largest geographic allocation of the week.
World ETFs gathered €2.13 billion, while Developed Markets attracted €1.60 billion. Emerging Markets added €1.44 billion.
Eurozone products attracted €230.4 million, while Canada gathered €195.6 million. Taiwan recorded inflows of €105.2 million.
China recorded the largest geographic outflow at €505.1 million. Switzerland declined by €162.6 million, while Latin America recorded outflows of €76.5 million.
Geographic Equity Performance: Romania Leads Weekly Gains
Romania delivered the strongest geographic performance among the highlighted markets, advancing 6.73% during the week.
Denmark gained 5.48%, while Taiwan rose 5.12%. Thailand advanced 5.02%, and Greater China gained 4.29%.
Germany rose 4.16%.
South Korea recorded the weakest highlighted performance, declining 3.53%, while Indonesia fell 3.38%.
Thematic ETF Flows: Net Zero 2050 Leads Inflows
Net Zero 2050 attracted €276.7 million, the largest thematic inflow of the week.
Alternative Energy gathered €162.2 million, while Artificial Intelligence & Big Data attracted €140.9 million.
Global Defense recorded the largest thematic outflow at €151.4 million. Robotics & Automation declined by €115.5 million, while China Disruptive Technology lost €108.8 million.
Thematic ETF Performance: Space & Deep Sea Leads
Space & Deep Sea delivered the strongest thematic performance of the week, advancing 12.76%.
Europe Defense gained 10.59%, while Global Defense rose 9.10%. Asia Defense advanced 6.48%, and Video Games & iGaming gained 6.36%.
Blockchain recorded the weakest highlighted thematic performance, declining 6.72%.
Fixed Income ETF Flows: Government Investment Grade Dominates
Government Investment Grade ETFs attracted €27.19 billion, by far the largest fixed income allocation of the week.
Corporate Investment Grade products gathered €1.04 billion, while Corporate High Yield ETFs attracted €314.8 million.
Government Aggregate products added €138.4 million.
Government Agencies Investment Grade recorded outflows of €53.9 million.
Commodity ETP Flows: Gold Records Largest Outflow
Multi Commodities attracted €129.7 million, the largest commodity inflow of the week.
Silver gathered €104.1 million, while Crude Oil added €45.7 million.
Gold recorded significant outflows of €4.48 billion. Wheat declined by €46.1 million during the period.
Cryptocurrency ETP Flows: Ether Leads Inflows
Ether products attracted €4.6 million, the largest cryptocurrency inflow of the week.
Chainlink gathered €2.4 million, while Internet Computer added €1.5 million.
Bitcoin recorded outflows of €4.8 million, while Near declined by €1.9 million.
