Fast-rising artist, Solana has described her sound, YoruPop as a unique genre to preserve the richness of Yoruba language and traditions.
The Lagos-based singer, whose latest single titled, ‘Okunkun’ is currently gaining traction across social media platforms, said YoruPop goes beyond singing in Yoruba.
According to her, the genre blends modern pop and Afrobeats with the cultural depth and authenticity of Yoruba heritage.
“YoruPop is more than just singing in Yoruba. It is about the rhythm, the melodies, the vocal delivery and the cultural essence behind the music,” she explained.
Solana added that her goal is to create music that honours tradition while appealing to a global audience.
“For me, it’s about preserving the authenticity of the language and the traditions while presenting them in a way that feels modern and relatable,” she said.
“It gives listeners a deeper cultural experience rather than just a taste of Yoruba influence.”
