Ripple Gains Full MiCA Approval, Wins EEA-Wide Crypto Services License

Ripple has received full Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) authorization from Luxembourg’s financial regulator CSSF under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework, the firm announced in a statement today.

The approval follows a preliminary license granted in June 2026 and clears Ripple to offer regulated cryptocurrency services to financial institutions and businesses across all 30 countries in the European Economic Area.

The license removes a key regulatory barrier that has constrained Ripple’s expansion in Europe, traditionally a fragmented market where crypto service providers faced bank-by-bank and country-by-country licensing requirements. The CASP approval, combined with Ripple’s existing Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license, provides a unified regulatory pathway for European banks and fintech firms to access stablecoin and crypto asset settlement infrastructure through a single integration.

Ripple stated it now holds more than 75 regulatory licenses globally, a number that underscores the company’s strategy of pursuing licensing in major jurisdictions rather than building products in regulatory gray areas. The MiCA approval carries particular significance because it arrives as the EU begins full enforcement of its comprehensive crypto rulebook — placing Ripple’s infrastructure in position to capture institutional demand for compliant settlement rails as banks and asset managers mobilize European capital into digital assets.

The EEA passporting right removes the operational friction of country-by-country licensing and enables Ripple to scale operations across Europe through a single license. This structural advantage positions the company to capture institutional settlement flows, particularly for Euro-denominated stablecoins and cross-border payment corridors where regulatory clarity is accelerating adoption among traditional financial institutions seeking on-chain infrastructure.
