In 1983, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in politics with a minor in business administration at Assumption University in Worcester, Massachusetts. Early in his career, he initially intended to pursue a career in public administration, but ultimately ventured into sales instead. This departure would soon spark his interest in the oil industry, further transforming his initial endeavors in financial advisory to a desire to specialize in oil and gas drilling. He also volunteers at his local chamber of commerce, Rotary International, and a local charity in Fort Worth that feeds underserved communities.
