SPARKS, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — Construction has started at an advanced manufacturing facility in Sparks as the Singapore-based company Bitdeer aims to expand U.S. production of its Bitcoin mining servers.
When the factory comes fully online in early 2027, Bitdeer executives say the warehouse, located off Pyramid Highway near the Spanish Springs library, will be capable of producing 10,000 servers per month.
Construction starts at Sparks Bitcoin manufacturing facility, expected to create 70 jobs
Though much of the production line will be automated, the 180,000 square foot facility is expected to employ roughly 70 people with high-paying engineering, skilled technician and support jobs.
We are building a brand new precision electronics manufacturing facility in Sparks.
“Sinking our roots in Sparks completes our business strategy,” said Bitdeer Industrial CEO Catherine Guo.
“We conducted a nationwide search last year and we made our decision to come over to Sparks, Nevada for three main reasons. First is the accessible skilled workforce, Reno also has very robust logistic infrastructure and the business climate is extremely friendly,” she said.
The Bitdeer production line will be partially automated, but the facility is expected to employ 70 people.
In addition to those factors, the company was also enticed by tax abatements from the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development. According to Nevada GOED, Bitdeer is expected to receive over $488,000 in tax abatements over the next decade.
The company’s flagship product is SEALMINER mining servers, which are built specifically to run the Bitcoin network by processing and securing Bitcoin transactions.
The Sparks facility will produce the servers but not host them, distinguishing the project from the company’s data centers in other states. It will also have a significantly smaller environmental footprint, Bitdeer Industrial Chairman Paul Hanson said.
“We will use less than 1,000 gallons a water day, approximately. When you talk about household homes, you’re talking about 3 household homes worth of water consumption on a daily basis,” Hanson said.
Bitdeer executives hope to begin shipping out products in January 2027. The company already operates data centers in Washington, Texas, Tennessee and Ohio, with its U.S. hub located in San Jose, California.
“Currently, we’ve got a large investment in the next 4 years of $17 billion in the U.S. to continue our stakehold here in the United States where it’s good for business, it’s good for success of the United States going back into manufacturing as the current administration is driven to complete manufacturing and bringing it back into the United states,” Hanson said.
