The religious holiday doesn’t fall on the same date each year. That’s because the date is based on the lunar calendar. Easter comes on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the spring equinox, which was on March 20. That means Easter could fall anywhere from March 22 to April 25.

The April 13 full moon, known as the pink moon, will be the first full moon since the equinox. The time of the full moon will be at 00:22 UTC on April 13, which is four hours ahead of Eastern Daylight Time, which is why Easter will be on Sunday, April 20.

The New York Stock Exchange will be closed for 10 holidays in 2025, and Good Friday on April 18 is one of them.
Also closed on April 18 will be Nasdaq and the bond markets.

The stock market will hold regular hours on April 17.
